September 1st, 2010 Junior Golf Championships - News...

What an outstanding day for golf. We had a perfect day of weather for our final round of the Belmar Junior Championship. All the age divisions were close going into the final round. We had a local winner in the Boys Championship division with Jett Johnson from Norman, Oklahoma, posting a 140 and capturing the Texas Cup Invitational Exemption.

The Girls Championship winner came from across the Red River in Plano, Texas, with Kaci McCartan claiming the Championship with a two day total of 146. She was looking forward to meeting Toby Keith when he awarded her trophy guitar.

The little guy with a big heart from Sachse, Texas, Eric Valenzuela claimed the Boys 14-15 Championship with a two day total 153. The Girls 14-15 Championship was awarded to Megan Blonien from Altus, Oklahoma, with a 147. She too was excited to be awarded the custom signed guitar from tournament host Toby Keith.

The match of the weekend definitely came down to the Boys 12-13 division. We had Brad Dalke, newly committed the University of Oklahoma, and Ryan Grider both from the DFW area. They traveled to Norman for a battle over the Belmar Junior Championship. Ryan Grider closed out the victory after a final round 71, and two day total of 139 to win his customer guitar by one stoke. The Girls 12-13 Championship was awarded to Kenzie Wright of Frisco, Texas, with a two day total of 165. This was her second 2010 victory with the Junior Golf Championships.

The one of the best two day totals of the weekend came in the Boys 10-11 division. Kyle Cox from Carrollton, Texas, was no match for the native grasses of Belmar Golf Club. Kyle closed out his victory with a two day total 139 to capture his second 2010 victory with JGC. It was our Hole in One winner from the Southwest Junior Open Hailee Cooper from Montgomery, Texas, also claiming her second win of the year with a two day total of 159. It was great watching Hailee introduce herself to Mr. Toby Keith. He really enjoyed our group. Even if he had a concert the night before and arrived back in OKC at 7am after all night traveling.

The Boys 8-9 division featured a pair of past champions. It was Jensen Rogenes from Frisco, Texas, who captured his second victory of the year with JGC with a 148 after two rounds. It was fun to see his eyes when he met Toby Keith. The Girls 8-9 division was by far the best dressed on collegiate day on Saturday. This is a great group to watch and we really enjoy the boys and girls. The consistent play from Sadie Englemann from Austin, Texas, with a two day total of 72 was enough to capture her signed guitar from our host.

Junior Golf Championships 12 Year-Old Junior Golf Participant Offered Golf Scholarship by University of Oklahoma DALLAS-Junior Golf Championships Founder and President Justin Hogue revealed today that 12 year-old junior golfer Brad Dalke will attend the University of Oklahoma on a golf scholarship. The news came in the wake of Dalke’s competition in the U.S. Kids Junior World Golf Championships this year at Pinehurst. He finished his three rounds with 68, 68, and 68 for a six stroke victory and a World Championship! Brad Dalke is no stranger to winning. Just in the past year he has placed first in the boy’s 10-11 year-old division at the Southwest Junior Open (July 2009) by 12 strokes; first place in the 12-13 division in Southwest Junior Championship that was determined by a playoff; and a first place finish at the Southwest Junior Open in Feb. 2010, at Barton Creek Country Club in Austin by 19 strokes. “With this incredible talent, it’s not surprising that the University of Oklahoma has offered this young man a golf scholarship,” says Hogue. “Brad is a well rounded individual on and off the golf course. He is a hard worker and exudes the type of golfers that is associated with the Junior Golf Championship organization. We certainly wish him well and look forward to seeing him at our Belmar Golf Club Junior Championship in Norman, Oklahoma this weekend, Aug. 14-15.” For more information about the Junior Golf Championships, visit our Web-sites at www.juniorgolfchampionships.com.
